Worldwide Identity and Access Management Forecast, 2022–2026: Lead, Follow, or Get Out of the Way
This IDC study forecasts future vendor software revenue for companies offering identity and access management software technology. The projections leverage IDC's 2020–2021 estimated market share revenue taken from IDC's Semiannual Security Products Tracker database as the basis, reporting 21.1% year-over-year growth. Recently, Microsoft disclosed that only ~24% of its Azure Active Directory accounts use strong authentication measures; the market for identity technology is nowhere near saturated (for more details about Microsoft's market position, see Worldwide Identity and Access Management Market Shares, 2021: Advanced Authentication Drives Continued Growth, IDC #US48013822, June 2022)."Identity security remains a top concern and investment area for most CISOs as calls for universal adoption of multifactor authentication (MFA) emanate from executive orders, the Office of Management and Budget, and technology leaders such as Google, Meta, Microsoft, Twitter, and more," said Jay Bretzmann, research vice president for Security Products research at IDC. "Also watch for governance products to rise in importance, helping those that have achieved zero trust environments fine-tune least privilege access controls."
