This IDC Market Perspective provides a preliminary unit shipment range for worldwide hard disk drive (HDD) units by hard disk drive class and estimated supplier market share for 4Q21."Strong demand for cloud solutions along with growth from the private datacenter market is driving continued healthy conditions for hard drives," according to Ed Burns, research director, Worldwide Hard Disk Drives at IDC. "While strong demand continues, supply constraints and challenges associated with the global recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic are limiting upside due to customer difficulty in building systems caused by shortages of components and longer supply chain lead time requirements."
