Worldwide Collaborative Applications Market Shares, 2021: Optimizing the Collaborative Enterprise
This IDC study examines the vendor revenue performance in the overall collaborative applications market for 2021.Collaboration applications became the norm in 2021. People got better at using them to feel connected to each other, and to their work. Work itself became more digital. Although many businesses are still learning how to collaborate, they are recognizing significant benefits. Better communications, the ability to work from anywhere, increased personal and group productivity, improved security and governance, and feeling more informed and connected were all cited as top benefits of collaboration. More than a quarter (26%) of companies were already creating new, digital era metrics designed for their future of work and customer experience."Companies are realizing the possibilities of collaboration — specifically, businesses that connect the workforce, partners, and customers using integrated, best-of-breed collaborative platforms," according to Wayne Kurtzman, research director, Social and Collaboration at IDC. "The collaborative activities of people scale with the right technologies. That includes internal and external stakeholders who want more input on the products and services they buy, and more interaction with the peers at other companies. Collaborative applications' features are accelerating rapidly and becoming more visual, friendly, easy to use, and data driven. Collaborative applications are core to digitally transforming work and business opportunities. A well-executed collaboration stack results in better personal and group productivity, faster time to market, a better employee experience, a better customer experience and, at its best, a sense of community."
