Worldwide Carrier Routing Equipment Forecast, 2024–2028: SP Routing Will Grow at a Steady Pace After Overcoming Excess Inventory and Microeconomics Headwind in 2024

This IDC study presents the worldwide market forecast for carrier routing network equipment for 2023–2028. Carrier routing network equipment sales to carrier SPs is forecast to grow from $12.56 billion in 2023 to $14.96 billion by the end of 2028 at a CAGR of 3.5%."Communications service providers worldwide continue to upgrade their networks to add capacity and support new and emerging applications. The overall carrier IP routing market saw a steady YoY growth of 1.4% in 2023 due to service providers' increased deployment of 400Gbps technology. North American service providers slowed down their investment in the infrastructure in the second half of 2023 and 2024 due to microeconomic conditions and excess inventory digestion, but long-term trends will drive steady growth," says Ajeet Das, research director, Carrier Network Infrastructure at IDC.
