Worldwide Business Use Smartphone Forecast, 2024-2028

This IDC study presents the five-year forecast for the worldwide business use of smartphone shipments by operating system and user type (consumer, individual liable, and corporate liable). It is part of IDC's continuing research with respect to mobile devices. Findings in this document are based on information gathered from primary and secondary sources during the past six months."While business users and consumers alike have passively benefited from AI-driven technology on their mobile devices for years, 2024 heralds the next generation of AI-powered smartphones," said Bryan Bassett, research manager, IDC's Enterprise Mobility: Workspace and Deployment Strategies program. "In the near term, business users will benefit from AI-driven features that allow them to translate language and text in real time, quickly edit or enhance photos, and instantly organize meeting notes. In addition, next-gen AI smartphones have the potential to greatly improve personal and corporate data security while also freeing up cloud compute bandwidth. While the true benefits of on-device AI smartphones are yet to be fully realized, next-gen AI devices will have a significant impact on future business strategies."
