Worldwide 5G Network Slicing Services Forecast, 2022–2026

This IDC study provides a worldwide and U.S. forecast for 5G network slicing service revenue. The forecast is for the monthly recurring managed service fee and excludes the underlying connectivity service fee and cost of devices. This study also provides insights into market drivers and inhibitors for network slicing-based services. "5G network slicing holds great potential as the foundation for new classes of mobile operator services," says Daryl Schoolar, research director, Worldwide Telecommunications at IDC. "However, IDC expects the commercial impact of services based on network slicing, except for operators in China, will be very limited. There are several variables that need to come into place before operators see significant positive revenue growth from slicing."
