This IDC study provides a five-year forecast for the worldwide 5G network infrastructure market for the 2023–2027 period."The overall mobile network infrastructure market is expected to slightly decline over the forecast period as comms SPs take a conservative approach in where they deploy 5G while sunsetting 2G, 3G, and 4G/LTE networks along the way. Without a discernible boost in service revenue, 5G spend, to include the tactical deployment of radios, will likely be targeted at high-leverage use cases in which advanced network technologies such as 5G network slicing and service exposure drive premium pricing opportunities," says Patrick Filkins, research manager, IoT and Telecom Network Infrastructure at IDC.
