VMware Explore 2024: A Shift to Private Cloud, AI, and AppDev Simplification

This IDC Perspective discusses Broadcom's first VMware Explore event, held on August 25–28 in Las Vegas. The event unveiled a new strategy for VMware, which has now been restructured into four divisions: VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF), VMware Tanzu, advanced networking and security (ANS), and VMware software-defined edge (SDE). "Broadcom VMware Explore 2024 highlighted a pragmatic focus on private cloud solutions, AI, and application development simplification," said Jim Mercer, program vice president of Software Development DevOps and DevSecOps at IDC. "The VMware portfolio is being simplified so that it is easier to navigate and consume with a renewed focus on the private cloud via the upcoming VMware Cloud Foundation 9 release. Now, Broadcom must continue to execute on its road map so that customers can realize the benefits."
