Technology Suppliers Are Missing Notable Opportunity in Supporting Digital Innovation in the Enterprise

This IDC Market Perspective highlights the potential missed opportunity that technology suppliers are experiencing as their most important customers embrace digital innovation for new products and services. "Nearly half of enterprise respondents to our recent survey said that they develop digital innovation 100% in-house. These enterprises still rely heavily on technology suppliers such as cloud providers, DevOps tool makers, and database software developers — yet suppliers of these critical technologies are increasingly viewed as less strategic long term," said Nancy Gohring, research director of IDC's Future of Digital Innovation agenda program. "Technology suppliers have an urgent need to ensure that they support — and ensure they are perceived to support — enterprise digital innovation efforts. Doing so is a requirement for earning the position of strategic partner in enabling digital innovation in the enterprise and has long-term ramifications for the success of the vendors involved."
