NIS 2 Comes into Force — What Is the State of Play in Europe?

The EU's updated Directive on the Security of Network and Information Systems (NIS 2) was due to be transposed into the national legislation of EU member states by October 2024. Although many member states did not make the deadline, preparation for the directive is ongoing, both at national and organizational levels. This IDC Market Note examines the status of preparations in the member states and looks at areas where IDC sees strong readiness, as well as areas where there are gaps or shortfalls. The report also provides some general guidance for organizations that are working toward meeting the requirements of the legislation.
