Microsoft Cloud for Sustainability: Capabilities and Partner Solutions for Smart Facilities

This IDC Market Note will provide an overview of Microsoft’s new Sustainability for Cloud platform and will highlight the solutions and partnerships most relevant for driving sustainability in infrastructure and the built environment. The platform was launched in June 2021 in North America and Europe and brings together a suite of software-as-a-service tools and products to support organizations meet their environmental objectives. The built environment sector has been a slow mover in terms of technology adoption and environmental sustainability. IDC data demonstrates that a high percentage of AEC companies — 66% — remain at an early stage of maturity in their adoption of digital technology. However, several drivers, from technological innovation to fast-spend recovery funding and ESG targets, are fueling increasing digitization and innovation. Microsoft Cloud for Sustainability provides a series of tools to support this accelerated green and digital agenda.
