Japan Networks Market Shares, 2021: Wireless LAN in Harsh Environments
This IDC study provides an analysis of the 2021 vendor share and vendor trends in the overall Japan network equipment market by product segment, which includes Ethernet switches, routers, and enterprise wireless LAN equipment; and by user segment. The Japan network equipment market faced a number of challenges in 2021: the end of network construction projects for GIGA schools, the near completion of mobile backhaul construction for 5G services, and supply chain issues, mainly semiconductor supply shortages. Despite these difficulties, Cisco Systems and Allied Telesis increased their overall network equipment revenue.Supply chain issues are still not expected to end and are a weighty challenge for both vendors and the companies that face them. On the other hand, both companies and vendors tend to focus their attention on the procurement of products, which tends to stall discussions about the state of the corporate network. "As enterprises continue to move toward the 'future enterprise,' the adaptation and innovation of enterprise networks cannot afford to lag any further behind. To that end, 2022 should see vendors and businesses accelerate their consideration for innovation again. IDC recommends that businesses view the lack of product availability as a positive sign that they have more time to discuss and adopt new technologies, and fully consider what network architecture is best suited for their business innovation," says Kenichi Kusano, group director at IDC Japan.
