IoT Advances and Innovations from the Consumer Electronics Show 2024


This IDC Market Note highlights announcements and innovations at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2024, held January 7–12.The Consumer Electronics Show 2024 highlighted the integration of the Internet of Things (IoT) across various industries, with a significant focus on artificial intelligence (AI) and sustainability efforts. Advances in connectivity are also playing a significant role in how IoT devices function. The Connectivity Standards Alliance (CSA) is working to close the gap in communication between IoT devices, with over 280 companies supporting the Matter standard. The Consumer Technology Association announced the formation of the Consumer Technology Circularity Initiative (CTCI), a voluntary mandate for companies to reduce waste and minimize the disposal of consumer electronics. The industrial metaverse, as presented by Siemens, is set to revolutionize design and production processes by leveraging AI, digital twins, and extended reality technology from Sony.
