Infrastructure Requirements for Enterprise Intelligence

Infrastructure Requirements for Enterprise Intelligence

This IDC Perspective looks at some of the key requirements for building an environment that can deliver insights at scale. To achieve the concept of an intelligent enterprise in which insights at scale are continuously generated on performance-intensive compute, organizations need to prioritize infrastructure performance, scalability, parallelization capability, and integration with data repositories, as well as security, the AI software stack, and vendor support. For most organizations, cost is secondary as attempts to reduce cost can easily lead to infrastructure that compromises on any of these requirements, most likely performance."Investments in AI infrastructure, whether on premises or in the cloud, can be significant, but they are unavoidable," says Peter Rutten, research vice president and global lead for Performance-Intensive Computing, IDC. "Without them, the actual artificial brain on which an organization's algorithms must run flawlessly will be compromised."
