IDC PlanScape: Trusted Ecosystem Management Practices for Future IT

This IDC PlanScape is designed to make the case for the importance of trusted ecosystems. It explains why they are important, what they are, who are the key stakeholders, and how CIOs can help create them. It is intended as a tool for discussions among CIOs, LOB executives, and business leaders to gain consensus on the importance of trusted ecosystems and what initiatives should be pursued to achieve the levels of trustworthiness that the business needs. "Trusted ecosystems are important as customers and partners increasingly value ethical behavior, social responsibility, privacy, protection, transparency, and other facets of trustworthiness," says Marc Strohlein, adjunct research advisor with IDC's IT Executive Programs (IEP). "But while activities and functions can be outsourced to partners, accountability and responsibility cannot."
