As part of the strategy, systems must be evaluated for their suitability toward EDA including processing capability, event emitting, and monitoring capabilities, as well as their ability to meet event standards. In addition, additional connectivity tools such as application programming interface (API) management and integration platform as a service (iPaaS) are important complementary technologies. According to Shari Lava, research director, Automation, "Most enterprises and their partners need to learn how event-driven architectures can support real-time data goals. Batch processing and point to point are no longer sufficient ways to share data across the enterprise and beyond."
