IDC MaturityScape Benchmark: Future CIO Worldwide, 2023

This IDC study provides CIOs and senior IT executives with a benchmark for comparing their progress toward becoming future CIOs with that of their peers. In times of uncertainty, changes, and risk, a data-driven and structured approach is critical on the journey as executives strive to improve leadership roles in their organizations. This IDC study aims to help CIOs prepare for the future by providing insights into where they stand in relation to successful senior IT executives in terms of vision, architecture, teams, resilience, and governance."In the first downturn in an as-a-service economy, CIOs must rethink their role through disruption while confronting expanding accountabilities," says Serge Findling, vice president of research with IDC's IT Executive Programs (IEP)." At the same time, most CIOs will be challenged by line-of-business counterparts who may better demonstrate the ability to align technology with the new enterprise mission."
