IBM Qiskit Runtime Primitives and Pay-As-You-Go: A QCaaS Plan That Allows Developers to Develop
This IDC Market Note provides an overview of IBM's launch of Qiskit Runtime primitives, the Sampler and Estimator. Because enterprises are deterred from quantum computing adoption due to challenges related to cost and the specialized skill sets needed for infrastructure management, IBM is responding to the adoption concerns by prioritizing the release of quantum computing platforms and features, specifically IBM Qiskit Runtime and Qiskit Runtime primitives that allow for frictionless and serverless development of quantum workloads on IBM Cloud, as well as the introduction of a pay-as-you-go consumption model."With the launch of IBM's Qiskit Runtime, Qiskit Runtime primitives, and the pay-as-you-go plan for Qiskit Runtime, IBM has addressed key concerns of enterprises and developers deterred from quantum computing adoption," said Heather West, PhD, senior research analyst, Infrastructure Systems, Platforms, and Technologies Group at IDC. "Using Qiskit Runtime and Qiskit Runtime primitives, developers can focus on building quantum workflows instead of the complexities related to hybrid quantum-classical compute environments. Pay as you go offers enterprises a plan to commit to, even if they are not yet fully committed."
