Google recently launched a cloud region in Doha in cooperation with the Qatari Ministry of Communications and Information Technology and Qatar Free Zone Authority. This cloud region will support Qatar's ongoing digital transformation initiatives and help the country achieve its National Vision 2030 goals. Google already has an office in Qatar and a center of excellence in Msheireb to support the country's digital transformation initiatives. The Doha cloud region is Google's 37th region and 112th availability zone, with future cloud regions planned in Saudi Arabia and Kuwait."The new local datacenter in Qatar will expand Google's presence in the Middle East and address the data residency and localization requirements of customers in the region. The Doha cloud region will also support the Qatar National Vision 2030 strategy by accelerating ongoing digital transformation initiatives. In addition, the launch of Google I/O and AI products will spur innovation and boost the hyperscaler's value in the country." Nitesh Rathi, Senior Research Analyst, IDC.
