The Next Generation of Industrial Asset Management
This IDC Perspective examines the past, present, and future of asset life-cycle management capabilities within industrial enterprises. Past technology paradigms have resulted in a sprawling landscape of asset management technologies and processes. Now, organizations seek to become more data driven and utilize AI and analytics in new ways. To do so requires them to build data and infrastructure integrations to connect this disparate landscape of technologies and harness the power of the data contained therein. "Asset life cycle management is not going to have some new technology categories arrive to displace everything in operation today," says Jonathan Lang, research director for IDC Industry Insights. "Rather, companies are building new remote, centralized teams to enter into the asset life-cycle management equation and are building hardware and software infrastructure that connects the various roles and system data necessary to support new and expanded use cases."
