The Future of Connectedness 2.0: Redefined

This IDC Perspective is a refresh of a 2022 anchor document that discusses the new future of connectedness framework as designed and defined by a global team of IDC's telecommunications, networking, and services analysts. In this document, we present a framework that discusses the concept of data in motion and its reliability on connectivity to drive business outcomes such as ubiquitous access, data in motion, and real-time insights. Connectivity and data movement remain two of the top technology priorities for enterprises as they adapt to the hybrid work model. As data volumes increase, interactions become more digital, and data analysis becomes more essential, enterprises must assess how mature their network and connectivity strategies are," says Paul Hughes, research director, Future of Connectedness agenda program, at IDC. "The road map to becoming an agile connected enterprise is complex one and will require a defined technology path that embraces a cloud-enabled and mobility-driven strategy that enables ubiquitous network access, keeps data in motion, and can deliver real-time insights."
