European Union Cyber Resilience Act Introduces Mandatory Security Requirements

This IDC Market Note reviews the recently released European Union Cyber Resilience Act (CRA). The European Commission has released a proposal for a new Cyber Resilience Act to protect consumers and businesses from products with inadequate security features. The CRA introduces mandatory cybersecurity requirements for products with digital elements, throughout their whole life cycle. IDC believes that given the tremendous growth in IoT installations, the current state of cybersecurity in OT environments, and current geopolitical conditions, establishing mandatory requirements to better secure many of the devices that run some of our most critical facilities will be money well spent.
