There Will Never Be Enough IT Skills: CIOs Must Innovate, Part 2 — Global
This IDC Perspective discusses the need for CIOs to find and retain qualified IT professionals.According to Dr. Ron Babin, adjunct research advisor, IT Executive Programs (IEP) at IDC, "One in 10 new jobs will require digital skills, as identified by OECD; this is a significant growth in demand. CIOs must continually hire enough IT professionals to accommodate growth in digital services and to replace normal attrition and retirement. Given increased demand, and limited supply, hiring sufficient IT skills is a strategic challenge for CIOs. Innovative CIOs recognize the need to support current IT staff to become more efficient, with better-designed business processes, increased automation to support development, and a continuous investment in ongoing education with a focus on critical skills. CIOs compete in a global market for digital skills and must approach their staffing needs by understanding that there will never be enough IT skills."
