Digital-First World: Enterprise Applications Vendors Have a Significant Opportunity in the Digital World

This IDC Market Perspective discusses the opportunity for enterprise applications vendors in the digital world. The digital-first world is upon us. Organizations are moving toward a digital business that is fully automated, self-healing, and brings insights for better performance considerations to the employee. These organizations require core and foundational digital-first world applications. They are telling IDC they want more advanced capabilities while complaining about vendor's high costs and fees, price increases without enhanced value, data migration services and data, and road map transparency. "Our IDC SaaSPath 2022 data finds organizations are ready, willing, and investment capable to buy new enterprise applications. However, with the digital world upon us, not all enterprise applications are digital-first world capable," said Mickey North Rizza, group vice president, Enterprise Software at IDC. "Vendors need to embrace the digital-first world opportunity from digital-first world application readiness to collaboration with customers to the leverage of new tool sets and partners in their ecosystems."
