A New Industry Cloud Takes Shape at Infor
This IDC Perspective reviews some of the key decisions that technology vendors must consider in the process of developing and launching an industry cloud. Specifically, it describes key points in the journey for one such vendor, Infor, as it built and launched its CloudSuite Engineering and Construction industry cloud in 2021. "Industry clouds have been gaining popularity with technology vendors and buyers alike in the past couple of years, but there is still some confusion in the market about their unique characteristics and their advantages and disadvantages for users. By taking technology buyers through the process of developing an industry cloud, we hope to provide them with better understanding of industry clouds' capabilities and with information to properly determine if and how to engage with them," said Nadia Ballard, research manager, Industry Clouds and SaaS at IDC.
