China Gaming Market Forecast, 2021–2026
As consumers have adjusted to the pandemic lifestyle, the demand for gaming has also become normalized in 2021. Mobile and PC gaming remain as the dominant segments in the China market, whereas both console and cloud-streamed gaming are gaining momentum in the local market. VR gaming is currently stuck in an awkward position in which there are lots of interests from investors and consumers but no quality content to help provide a breakthrough, says Yexi Liao, research analyst, IDC Asia/Pacific. "High-quality games and esports will be key drivers for various segments of the local market as the appetite of local gamers has elevated to quite a high standard," Liao adds.
