Blue Yonder ICON 2022: The Journey of the Berries
This IDC Perspective provides IDC's review and analysis of Blue Yonder ICON and the outlook for the company. The combination of unpredictable supply and demand coupled with accelerated complexity on all fronts served as the thematic underpinning for ICON, whose event title, "Experience the Edge," emphasized the need for harnessing data from the edge and using it effectively across the supply chain. ICON focused on the need for organizations to move from a planning model driven by historical information to one that is driven by real-time, cognitive, and interoperable data that lives across the supply chain and is not isolated by node, extending through execution and omni-channel operations. In this manner, all parts of the supply chain can work together as dynamically and optimally as possible to enable greater efficiency, better use of inventory, reductions of waste, increased customer satisfaction, and, ultimately, higher profits and a more sustainable enterprise. In short, ICON focused on the need for a resilient supply chain as a key to competitive advantage. "Now is the time to turn disruption into opportunity by rethinking how to manage supply chain imbalances, by reimagining new ways of working that support resiliency, and by reinventing the supply chain to enable the capture and effective use of data at the edge," said Jordan K. Speer, research director of Product Sourcing, Fulfillment, and Sustainability. "Supply chains will have difficulty succeeding in this modern age without the flexibility, connectivity, and transparency that modern technology and platforms provide across planning, execution, and omni-channel."
