Better Together: DevOps and Open Source Go Hand in Hand

This IDC Perspective considers the interrelationship between open source software (OSS) and the use of DevOps and DevSecOps tooling and practices to ensure the security of OSS and its direct and indirect dependencies when used as an asset for application development activities."OSS is a mainstream technology today, and IDC research finds that nearly one-third of organizations in the United States are using OSS today in the development of internally written applications," said Al Gillen, group VP, Software Development and Open Source, IDC. "Given the continued acceleration of the use of OSS when building new applications, it has become a necessity that DevOps and DevSecOps practices be applied to OSS technologies in use at development shops today," he added.
