In the last few years, Alibaba Group has ramped up investments in improving its cloud service capabilities outside China. It has added more availability zones across APEJ and ramped up its offerings on a wide range of DevOps tools, AI/ML analytics, and application server offerings. Microsoft also recently announced the Azure OpenAI Service in the region for Japan and India, thereby catering to organizations with tools to leverage AI in their infrastructure. Microsoft also announced plans to expand its Melbourne Azure region with more availability zones and said its upcoming New Zealand region will launch soon. AWS announced a US$4.4 billion investment in India through the launch of its second infrastructure region in India, namely the AWS Asia/Pacific (Hyderabad) Region. It also plans to open two more local availability zones in the country."Digital transformation (DX) and cloud continue to be a priority in the region. Organizations will continue their cloud adoption by focusing on new workloads for modernization initiatives, thereby improving product and service outcomes while achieving their business needs. FinOps and multicloud strategies will be preferred in the region as organizations look to leverage cloud models to optimize the usage of cloud resources to maximize value," says Shouvik Nag, senior research analyst, IDC APEJ Cloud Services.
