AI Observability: Should Tools Remain Standalone or Are They Expansion Opportunity for Observability Vendors?

This IDC Market Perspective examines AI observability, an observability subsegment, which is positioned to meet the growing demand for tools and best practices that support production ML and AI applications. "AI observability vendors predominantly target data quality and model performance and are typically used by data scientists," said Nancy Gohring, research director, Enterprise System Management Observability and AIOps Software at IDC. "While AI observability start-ups tend to argue that their tools have value as standalone products, IDC found that some established observability vendors expect to build and add AI observability to their suites of offerings. It is very early in the development of this subsegment and the lack of best practices around the management of models in production in the enterprise makes this a fast-changing sector."
