Sanitary Paper Product Manufacturing in the US - Industry Market Research Report
Sanitary Paper Product Manufacturing in the US
Sanitary paper product manufacturers produce numerous paper goods, including toilet paper, paper towels, facial tissues, diapers, mensural pads and tampons. Sanitary paper products are considered nondiscretionary goods, meaning consumers and businesses alike will buy them regardless of where the United States is in the business cycle, as they are essential for hygienic purposes. During the current period, COVID-19 caused an increase in demand for most products. Since consumers were required to stay home to stop the spread, goods like toilet paper, paper towels, napkins, diapers and tampons were in much higher demand. Adversely, because businesses had to close demand from that part of the market was dampened severely. Another result of COVID-19 was a disastrous global trade scene, which caused a main avenue for growth to drop, putting even more pressure on revenue. With falling exports and an appreciating US dollar, manufacturers lost a lot of ground to foreign competitors, as China's share of imports increased significantly through 2023. Overall, revenue for sanitary paper product manufacturers grew marginally at an estimated CAGR of 0.5% to $14.9 billion, with a 0.4% increase in 2023 alone, as profit levels reached 4.2%.
This industry converts sanitary paper stock or wadding into sanitary paper products. These products include table napkins and tablecloths, toilet paper, paper towels, facial tissues, disposable diapers, sanitary napkins and tampons. Some companies produce their own sanitary paper, while others purchase paper from paper mills. Final products are sold to either wholesalers for distribution or directly to buyers.
