Oil Change Services in the US - Industry Market Research Report
Oil Change Services in the US
Consumers keep up with regular car maintenance to avoid costlier repairs down the road. Demand for essential auto maintenance tasks, such as oil changes, are less sensitive to changes in consumer driving behaviors or economic conditions when compared with other auto service industries, such as auto repairs or body shops, as a result. For instance, the drop-off in total vehicle miles in 2020 didn't translate to a fall in revenue that year, increasing over 4.0% instead. Even as traffic returns to the road post-pandemic, backlogs of demand characterizing other auto services evade oil change servicers. Other COVID-related snags have emerged, with workforce shortages driving unprecedented wage growth. Yet, rising demand for auto maintenance in recent years has led the costs for these services to increase, offsetting those additional operating costs. Revenue has expanded at a CAGR of 5.0% to $10.6 billion over the past five years. Growth in 2023 will be on par with historical growth, increasing 2.4% by year-end.
Industry operators change motor oil, lubricate the chassis of automotive vehicles and provide other automotive repair and maintenance services, such as tire rotations and liquid flushes. Unlike auto mechanics, companies in this industry do not provide mechanical and electrical repair and maintenance. Industry operators are also not involved in body, paint, interior or glass repair. Companies that provide car wash services are also not included.
This report covers the scope, size, disposition and growth of the industry including the key sensitivities and success factors. Also included are five year industry forecasts, growth rates and an analysis of the industry key players and their market shares.
