Other Health Services in New Zealand
Beneficial trends have fuelled growth in the Other Health Services industry over the past few years. The population aged over 50 has been growing. Since many industry services like podiatry and home care nursing are primarily used by older individuals, this trend has benefited revenue growth. Revenue is expected to climb at an annualised 2.8% to $4.7 billion over the five years through 2023-24. This trend includes a drop of 1.2% in 2023-24, on the back of lower public health expenditure in 2022-23; but the industry is set to make a rapid recovery.
Industry players mainly provide allied and other health services, like alternative health therapy, audiology, dietitian, drug referral, family planning, midwifery, nursing, occupational therapy, podiatry, psychology and other health services. While the industry includes contractors working in hospitals, services that hospitals conduct internally are excluded. All chiropractic, osteopathic and physiological services are also excluded.
