Commercial Shelving Manufacturing
How it stacks up
The Commercial Shelving Manufacturing suffered severe revenue declines from 2007 through 2009. Although the industry began its recovery in 2010, growth has been slow because major markets across the globe remain weak and US demand for industry products have been increasingly satisfied by imports from countries like China, Mexico and Taiwan. Despite imports inhibiting domestic industry growth, rising demand will be beneficial to the industry and those operators capable of satisfying emerging trends and remaining competitive against US and foreign companies.
This industry includes establishments primarily engaged in manufacturing commercial shelving made out of materials other than wood. Industry products include shelving, storage racks, partitions, retail fixtures and other relevant goods such as lockers. The products are made on a stock or custom basis and may be assembled or unassembled (i.e. knockdown).
