HVAC Market Research Reports & Industry Analysis

HVAC systems are used in buildings to help control the climate indoors. Other than providing inhabitants with comfort, it can also aid in improving the indoor air quality. HVAC stands for heating, ventilation and air conditioning. Most systems are typically centralized heat and air and forced or displacement ventilation. It's common for these systems to also be made up of a heat pump or furnace to provide hot water, steam or hot air, which is then distributed through duct work or pipes. With the use of a forced or displacement ventilation system, humidity can be controlled, as well as odors. These have heat recovery ventilators, which have heat exchangers that cool the air in rooms using the air from outside, or displacement ventilation, which moves low velocities of air into the room. Overall, HVAC systems are used to heat, cool and control moisture levels in homes and buildings.

The newer model HVAC systems have ratings from SEER, which range from 16-20. The ones that are more energy efficient are able to reach up to 95.5% Annual Fuel Utilization Efficiency, or AFUE. The entry-level HVAC systems commonly have a 13 SEER rating, while the more advanced systems have a rating that's higher. Manufacturers are investing in ways to make their units more efficient, such as by using geothermal technology. Lennox has started using solar assisted heating and cooling for its systems. With the newer model units that are energy efficient, owners are able to combat high energy costs, while still maintaining comfortable heating and cooling levels within their homes and businesses.
