Machinery and equipment sold under the utility market includes transformers, energy storage (batteries, capacitors, superconducting magnetic energy storage [SMES], pumped hydro, compressed air energy storage [CAES]), switch gear, switchboards, transmission lines, substations, various inductor products, meters, wireless network and communications equipment, various information technology (IT) system components, smart meters, home energy management interfaces and displays, demand response (DR)-enabled appliances and add-ons, and variable frequency drives for smart home equipment and appliances. Various power plant products, equipment and systems can also be integrated with utility equipment and are sometimes included within the market. Analytics, data management software, data security software and smart metering software interfaces for ratepayers also represent market products.
