Styrene block copolymer thermoplastic elastomer (Styreneic Block Copolymers, referred to as SBCs) is a kind of thermoplastic elastomer with the most similar properties to rubber, the largest output and the fastest development. This elastomer is produced from styrene, butadiene or isoprene by anionic polymerization techniques. According to the different block components, SBCs can be divided into styrene-butadiene-styrene block copolymer (SBS), styrene-isoprene-styrene block copolymer (SIS) and styrene-ethylene -Butene-styrene block copolymer (SEBS) and other types.

SBS"s polystyrene composition provides durability, while the composition"s polybutadiene chains enable the material to return to its original state after stretching. SBS is most widely used in demanding high performance applications such as adhesives and sealants, asphalt/bitumen modification, polymer modification and vulcanized compounding. These copolymers show significant advantages in adhesive formulations as they work efficiently at processing temperatures and function as elastic rubber reinforcements under standard application conditions.
