Imaging techniques such as magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), ultrasound and CT are used to localise the target anatomy and use image feedback to guide the needle to the target anatomy. The percutaneous puncture surgery robot also has the ability to perform several procedures such as nephrostomy lithotripsy for the removal of kidney stones. The needle is inserted through a tiny incision in the patient's back and the kidney stone is removed.
