According to the statistics agency of Uzbekistan, the country recorded foreign investment and loans in fixed assets worth UZS26.2 trillion ($2.2 billion) in the first six months of 2023. Of the total, the manufacturing sector accounted for 44.3% of the total investment by value, followed by the mining sector (13.6%), electricity and gas supply (12.9%) and the transportation sector (8.3%). In 2022, Uzbekistan attracted UZS23.3 trillion ($1.9 billion) in foreign investment and loans in fixed assets.
Uzbekistan’s construction industry is expected to register an average annual growth of 4.7% from 2024 to 2027, supported by investment as part of the “Development Strategy of the New Uzbekistan for 2022-2026 (New Uzbekistan Strategy)”. Some of the main targets outlined in the plan include achieving an export target of UZS361.9 billion ($30 billion); attracting UZS844.3 trillion ($70 billion) in foreign investment - including UZSS168.9 billion ($14 billion) under the public private partnership (PPP) framework; generating 25% of power from renewables, and attracting nine million foreign tourists annually by 2026. The plan also includes a target to increase the coverage of children with pre-school education to 80% by 2026, educating 6.4 million people annually and creating an additional capacity for 1.2 million students in the system, by that year. It also plans to triple spending on primary healthcare and save seven billion m3 of water through the efficient usage of water resources in agriculture and industry by 2026.
