A record budget of $827.6 for national defense (excluding Atomic Energy Defense Activities, Department for Energy) by the 2023 National Defense Authorization Agreement (NDAA). This will result in the defense budget growing from the current $740.4 billion (2022), an increase of $87.0 billion. The US midterms pushed back the release of the NDAA, however after deliberations by both the House and Senate Committees an additional $45 billion was granted on top of the President’s Budget. The bill also include appropriations for further aid to Ukraine, as the US continues to lead military and financial provisions since the invasion in February 2022.
