There was no change at the top of the thematic rankings for the IT infrastructure sector in Q2 2024. Cisco continued to lead the way ahead of Alphabet, Microsoft, and Amazon. Arista Networks rounds out the top five.

Key Highlights

• There was some jockeying for position behind these established leaders, with IBM climbing two places to seventh, while Juniper Networks dropped two places to 10th. However, while some companies changed positions, the overall make-up of the top 10 was the same as in Q1 2024. All 10 are headquartered in the US, with Huawei, in 11th place, the highest-ranked company from outside the US.
• Three themes in the thematic screen have a weighting of 15%, reflecting their importance. They are artificial intelligence (AI), cybersecurity, and observability. Observability relates to the ability to measure the internal states of a system by examining its outputs, typically generated by sensors, servers, storage, networking, and other IT equipment. It is gaining momentum in DevOps, security, and networking, but customer awareness is low. New products and solutions, alongside marketing blitzes, will drive growth in customer awareness and interest. The term will ultimately be used by everyone to describe management and monitoring.
