Summary
Mining, manufacturing, and utilities contributed 23.3% to the gross value added (GVA) in 2022, followed by financial intermediation, real estate, and business activities with 17.8%, and wholesale, retail, and hotels with 15.1%. In nominal terms, the three sectors are expected to grow by 6.1%, 7.1%, and 9.1%, respectively, in 2023.
According to Eurostat, the Bucharest-Ilfov, South-Muntenia, Northwest, and Center regions contributed 62.6% to the country’s GDP in 2021 and accounted for 52.1% of Romania’s population in 2022.
The overall Bucharest BET Index exhibited a volatile trend over the last year. As of June 26, 2023, the BET index stood at 11,983.2, compared to 12,432.8 on June 26, 2022.
Scope
Romanian Development Minister Cseke Attila signed 81 financing contracts on May 19, 2023, with a total value of RON925 million (EUR180 million). The contracts cover various infrastructure projects, including road rehabilitation, water supply and sewerage systems, parking lots, sidewalks, bridges, and culverts, as part of the National Investment Program “Anghel Saligny.”
