Qatar Construction Market Size, Trend Analysis by Sector (Commercial, Industrial, Infrastructure, Energy and Utilities, Institutional and Residential) and Forecast, 2023-2027
Summary
The construction industry in Qatar is expected to grow by 3.6% in real terms in 2023, following an annual growth of 4.7% in 2022. This marginal declaration in growth is attributed to the completion of several infrastructure and strategic projects, related to the 2022 FIFA World Cup. Subsequently, as part of the 2023 Budget, the government reduced its allocation to major projects by 13.6% from QAR74 billion ($20.3 billion) in 2022 to QAR63.9 billion ($17.6 billion) in 2023. However, the allocation for minor capital expenditure was increased by 10.9%, from QAR4.6 billion ($1.3 billion) to QAR9.1 billion ($2.5 billion) during the same period. High inflation and supply chain disruptions could weigh on the industry’s output this year, but growth in 2023 will be supported by development of energy, utility, and transportation projects, with GlobalData estimating that oil and gas projects worth QAR38.2 billion ($10.5 billion) will begin construction this year. The industry is expected to register an average annual growth rate of 3.8% from 2024 to 2027, supported by investments in transport, electricity, oil, gas, industrial, and commercial projects. The country's plan to increase Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) production capacity from 77 million tonnes per year in 2022 to 126 million tonnes per year by 2027, combined with investments as part of the North Field expansion project, will provide a boost to the industry’s growth over the forecast period. In early April 2023, the American oil field services firm Baker Hughes won a contract to supply key components for the North Field South gas project in Qatar. The development is part of the wider North Field expansion project, which includes the North Field South and North Field East projects. The entire North Field expansion project aims to produce 48 million tonnes per year of LNG by 2027.The report provides detailed market analysis, information and insights into Qatar’s construction industry, including -
