Financial intermediation, real estate and business activities contributed 25.9% to the gross value added (GVA) in 2022, followed by wholesale, retail and hotel activities (20.2%) and mining, manufacturing and utilities activities (17.5%). In nominal terms, the three sectors are expected to grow by 8.4%, 8.4% and 8.3%, respectively, in 2023.
Northern Portugal, Lisbon and Center region together contributed 84.9% of the country’s total GDP in 2021 and accounted for 84.0% of the total population in 2022, according to Eurostat.
The PSI 20 index exhibited an upward trend over the past year. As of October 04, 2023, the index stood at 6,064.7, compared to 5,526.4 on October 04, 2022.
