Norway has been the largest producer of oil and gas in Europe region since the 1970s, exploiting resources in the North, Norwegian and Barents Sea basins. Within the world, Norway covers approximately 2 per cent of the global demand for crude and 3 per cent for natural gas. In the past years Norway has supplied between 20 and 25 per cent of natural gas to EU and United Kingdom.
