Mining Software - Mine Site Survey of Investment Status and Supplier Choice, 2022 Update
Summary
GlobalData has collected information on providers of specialist mining software, such as mine planning, surveying, geological block modelling and asset management software, from 539 active mines from across the globe. This report summaries the leading suppliers overall, by region and mine type, as well as providing the results of a survey of key decision-makers regarding the extent to which they have invested in mining software and expectations for future investment.
Investment levels are high in mine planning software, with 45% of respondents having fully implemented mine planning software, versus 29% having fully implemented mine management software, with majors having invested to a greater extent than non-majors for both types. Investment levels were highest in Australasia.
Despite extensive investment to date, 42% of mines expect to invest further in mine planning software and 34% in mine management software in the next two years, with the highest shares in Australasian and African mines.
Overall Dassault Systems, supplier of the Geovia mining software, was the most popular choice. It was also the most popular in surface mines and across Asia Pacific and the combined Europe, Middle East and Former Soviet Union region. In second place overall was Datamine, followed by Maptek.
Other significant suppliers included Bentley Systems, which ranked fourth overall, thanks to its acquisition of Seequent. Deswik, which has been acquired by Sandvik, ranked fifth and Hexagon sixth. Sandvik’s equipment competitor, Epiroc, has acquired MineRP, which ranked 12th overall.
