The foodservice profit sector generated a revenue of MYR93.2 billion ($20.4 billion) in 2023, rising at a CAGR of 1.5% during 2018-23. As tourism grew and consumers reverted to pre-pandemic lifestyles, foodservice sales grew. The number of transactions increased at a faster CAGR of 3.6%.
FSR was the largest foodservice profit sector channel in 2022, with a share of 37.5%. This reflects the popularity of traditional fine-dining experiences among Malaysian consumers. It was followed by the QSR channel, with a value share of 25.8%. The channel registered a CAGR of 5.2% during 2018-23.
