Summary
Financial intermediation, real estate, and business activities contributed 22.8% to the gross value added (GVA) in 2023, followed by mining, manufacturing, and utilities (20.4%) and transport, storage, and communication (13.0%). In nominal terms, the three segments are expected to grow by 5.3%, 5.4%, and 5.1%, respectively, in 2024.
Eastern Sweden and Southern Sweden contributed more than 90% to the country’s GDP in 2022 and comprised a high population density share of Sweden’s population in 2023, according to Eurostat.
OMX index exhibited an upward trend over the past year. As of July 2, 2024, the index stood at 2,556.1, compared to 2,309.9 on July 2, 2023.
