Summary

Mining, manufacturing, and utilities activities contributed 27.6% to the gross value added (GVA) in 2022, followed by financial intermediation, real estate, and business activities (20.0%), and wholesale, retail, and hotel activities (17.3%). In nominal terms, the three sectors are expected to grow by 12.5%, 12.7%, and 12.4%, respectively, in 2023.

According to Eurostat, four major regions in Poland accounted for 61.3% of the country’s population in 2022.

The WIG 25 Index exhibited an upward trend over the past year. As of December 12, 2023, the index stood at 77,317, compared to 56,515 on December 12, 2022.

• The National Railway Programme for the years 2023 to 2030 was approved during a meeting of the Council of Ministers on August 16, 2023, with an investment of PLN170 billion ($38.1 billion).
