Summary

Mining, manufacturing and utilities contributed 28.1% to the gross value added (GVA) in 2023, followed by financial intermediation, real estate and business activities (20.9%), wholesale, retail and hotels activities (12.8%). In nominal terms, the three sectors are expected to grow by 8.2%, 8.3% and 7.9%, respectively, in 2024.

Four major regions in the Czech Republic generated around 65.2% of the country’s GDP in 2021 and comprised 51.1% of the country’s population, as of 2022, according to Eurostat.

The PX index has been on a volatile trend. As of January 3, 2024, the index stood at 1,414.0, compared to 1,218.9 on January 03, 2023.

Scope

In October 2023, a loan agreement worth CZK24 billion ($1 billion) was signed between the European Investment Bank (EIB) and Czech Republic, to develop the country’s rail network.
